Cleaning of Solid Gold Jewelry
For most metal materials, a simple cleaning method is to use mild soap and water.
- Mix the Solution: Mix a few drops of mild dish soap with warm water.
- Soak: Soak the jewelry in the solution for 5 – 10 minutes.
- Brush Gently: Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently scrub away dirt, focusing on the intricate details and crevices.
- Rinse and Dry: Rinse with lukewarm water and dry with a soft cloth.
Cleaning of Gold Plated Jewelry
Gold-plated jewelry requires gentle handling to prevent the thin layer of gold from wearing off. Therefore, please follow the following cleaning steps.
- Avoid Abrasive Materials: Avoid using hard/sharp cleaning tools that can remove the gold plating.
- Soap and Water: DON’T SOAK GOLD-PLATED JEWELRY! Just dampen a cotton swab in mild soap water, then gently scrub the gold-plated jewelry.
- Rinse Quickly and Dry Thoroughly: Rinse immediately with cool water to remove soap residue, and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid rubbing to make the gold plating wear away.
